Carbonity: Patrick Girard Appointed General Manager of North America’s Largest Biochar Plant

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Girard as General Manager of Carbonity, Canada's first biochar plant. The facility is currently commissioning its first production line. An expansion phase, which will triple its capacity and make it the largest biochar plant in North America, could begin as early as fall 2025.
With extensive experience in plant management and industrial process optimization, Patrick Girard has held several leadership roles, notably at ArcelorMittal Mines and Infrastructures Canada, where he oversaw teams in maintenance, processes, and major projects. He holds an MBA and is widely recognized for his expertise in health and safety as well as maintenance management, positioning him perfectly to help Carbonity reach its full potential.

As General Manager, Mr. Girard will oversee the plant's commissioning and lead its expansion. He will also focus on implementing continuous improvement practices, optimizing processes, and fostering collaboration with stakeholders, further strengthening Carbonity's commitment to delivering sustainable solutions in the fight against climate change.

“We are thrilled to welcome Patrick to this new organization. His industrial expertise and community involvement make him an excellent ambassador for Carbonity,” said Michel Gagnon, CEO of Airex Energy and Chairman of Carbonity’s Board of Directors.
