INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION ENGINEER

The company is seeking applications for a permanent full-time position as an Industrial Automation Engineer at its Laval offices.

 

Job description:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the position holder will participate in the design of electrical equipment and the development of control and automation strategies for equipment designed to transform biomass into value-added products.

Main responsibilities:

  • Define project automation requirements.
  • Define automation architecture.
  • Participate in the development of automation projects, from design to commissioning.
  • Design electrical panels in accordance with the local standards of the concerned country.
  • Write documentation and technical or progress reports.
  • Select electrical and instrumentation components based on engineering requirements.
  • Perform detailed engineering of assigned projects.
  • Collaborate on the implementation and adherence to engineering procedures.
  • Provide support for electrical estimation as needed.
  • Follow up and update drawings and technical documentation.
  • Design and develop various industrial networks, Ethernet IP, Profinet, ControlNet, Devicenet, etc.
  • Develop the selection of remote communication equipment.
  • Establish a new remote project monitoring unit.
  • Prepare budgets and schedules.

Profile required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing or consulting environments.
  • Proficiency in French and a good command of English.
  • Experience in industrial programming is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Versatility, autonomy, and ease of communication.

Job description:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the position holder will participate in the programming of electrical equipment according to control strategies developed by the electrical department in collaboration with the mechanical team and process P&IDs.

Main responsibilities:

  • Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) using various languages such as ladder, grafcet, FB, etc.
  • Design and create HMI user interfaces and SCADA systems.
  • Apply functional descriptions of process controls and sequences of operations.
  • Participate in startup and commissioning tests, making necessary modifications and providing required technical support.
  • Diagnose technical issues during commissioning and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Offer support and training to users.
  • Provide remote or on-site technical support as needed.

Profile required:

  • DEC in Electrical Engineering or DEC in Industrial Electronics Technology or equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing or consulting environments.
  • Proficiency in French and a good command of English.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and other PLCs.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and low and medium voltage switchgear.
  • Knowledge of various industrial control processes for manufacturing and transformation.
  • Knowledge of various industrial networks such as Ethernet IP, Profinet, ControlNet, Devicenet, etc.

Job description:

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Manager will implement a sales strategy for biochar, biocoal, and biocarbon products. The role involves developing a network of contacts, analyzing market trends, and participating in professional events to promote our products. The manager will also be responsible for drafting commercial documents.

Main responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the executive team to implement the sales strategy for biochar, biocoal, and biocarbon production units to achieve company growth and profitability goals.
  • Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts to identify new sales and partnership opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends and customer behavior to adjust the sales strategy and meet the changing market needs.
  • Actively participate in trade shows, conferences, and other industry events to promote the company’s products and services and establish relationships with potential clients. This may include occasional travel (10 to 20% of the time).
  • Prepare and draft commercial documents such as letters of interest, memorandums of understanding, contracts, etc., for equipment and technology sales, and present them to potential clients.
  • Provide in-depth technological expertise to potential clients to assist them in their decision-making process, collaborating with technical team resources as needed.
  • Help develop effective promotion and communication strategies, including creating marketing materials, and participate in promotional campaigns.
  • Regularly follow up with potential clients to answer their questions, resolve any issues, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Compile and analyze sales data to evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities, and provide regular reports to management.
  • Participate in internal and external training sessions to stay updated on products, technologies, and industry best practices.

Profile required:

  • University degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technology field.
  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in drafting commercial contracts is an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial markets such as metallurgy, construction, mining, agriculture, and energy.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a sales or customer service role in a technology/industrial environment, ideally with long-lead sales cycles.
  • International work experience is an asset.
  • Initiative-driven individual with a proactive mindset.
