INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION TECHNICIEN

The company is seeking applications for a permanent full-time position as an Industrial Automation Engineer at its Laval offices.

Job description:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the position holder will participate in the programming of electrical equipment according to control strategies developed by the electrical department in collaboration with the mechanical team and process P&IDs.

Main responsibilities:

  • Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) using various languages such as ladder, grafcet, FB, etc.
  • Design and create HMI user interfaces and SCADA systems.
  • Apply functional descriptions of process controls and sequences of operations.
  • Participate in startup and commissioning tests, making necessary modifications and providing required technical support.
  • Diagnose technical issues during commissioning and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Offer support and training to users.
  • Provide remote or on-site technical support as needed.

Profile required:

  • DEC in Electrical Engineering or DEC in Industrial Electronics Technology or equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing or consulting environments.
  • Proficiency in French and a good command of English.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and other PLCs.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and low and medium voltage switchgear.
  • Knowledge of various industrial control processes for manufacturing and transformation.
  • Knowledge of various industrial networks such as Ethernet IP, Profinet, ControlNet, Devicenet, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Job description:

Under the supervision of the Vice-President Engineering, the buyer will be responsible for sourcing suppliers and purchasing general and specialized equipment. He will also be responsible for the complete logistics of our product and equipment deliveries, both in North America and internationally.

Main responsibilities:

  • Research and develop the supplier network (North America and international);
  • Negotiate annual agreements for the supply of raw materials and consumables;
  • Negotiate prices and payment terms;
  • Work with technical and production teams to source components;
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities;
  • Organize logistics associated with the purchase or sale of equipment and supplies, and follow up with suppliers and supply chain stakeholders;
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs protocols;
  • All other related tasks.

Profile required:

  • Technical degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, an asset
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a buyer in the manufacturing or industrial sector
  • Bilingual, French and English
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to suppliers
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Analytical mind and rigor
