Unlock the Power of Biochar in Anaerobic Digestion

Adding biochar produced by our technology to digesters boosts bioenergy efficiency

Key Benefits of Biochar

Discover how biochar, a sustainable and porous form of charcoal, is transforming the world of renewable energy and waste management. When integrated into anaerobic digestion systems, biochar enhances biogas production, improves nutrient retention, and stabilizes organic waste.

Why biochar is a powerful solution in anaerobic digestion

Improve microbial activity

Biochar provides a large surface area for beneficial microbes to thrive, boosting the efficiency of the digestion process.

Enhance the degradation of organic waste

The porous structure of biochar promotes better microbial contact with organic materials, accelerating waste breakdown.

Stabilize the digestion process

Biochar helps maintain consistent pH and temperature levels, preventing fluctuations and ensuring steady biogas production.

Retain nutrients

Biochar adsorbs and holds onto essential nutrients, preventing their loss and improving the quality of the digestate.

Reduce odors

The porous nature traps odorous compounds, significantly decreasing unpleasant smells during digestion.

Minimize the release of GHG like methane

Biochar captures greenhouse gases, reducing their emissions and making the process more environmentally friendly.

Reduce toxic metals

Biochar binds toxic metals present in waste, lowering their bioavailability and environmental impact.

Certification

Our biochar meets the stringent standards of the European Biochar Certification, ensuring quality and sustainability. Additionally, it complies with EBC Agro and AgroOrganic standards.

These globally recognized certifications are available upon request and reflect our commitment to producing high-quality biochar. We are proud to deliver products of the highest standard.

Carbon sequestration

Biochar is a powerful carbon sink, capable of sequestering CO2 in the soil or materials for over 1,000 years. One ton of biochar can store between 2 to 3 tons of CO2 equivalent, enabling the generation of carbon credits on the voluntary & regulatory market.

We use Cula.tech as our dMRV (digital measuring, reporting, and verifying software) to accurately track the carbon sequestration of our biochar.

We are Puro.Earth certified, ensuring high-quality carbon dioxide removal (CDR) with trusted and verifiable standards. Microsoft has already committed to purchasing carbon credits from the Carbonity project.
